DERMATOLOGICALS
Fluticasone propionate ( CutivateŽ)
0.05% cream
Topical Anti-inflammatory Corticosteroid
- Indicated for the relief of the inflammatory and pruritic manifestations of corticosteroid-responsive dermatoses.
Apply a thin film of 0.05% cream to the affected skin areas twice daily. Rub in gently.
(15 and 60 g tubes)
The more potent corticosteroids have been shown to be teratogenic after dermal application in laboratory animals. There are no adequate and well-controlled studies in pregnant women. Fluticasone propionate ointment and cream should be used during pregnancy only if the potential benefit to the woman justifies the potential risk to the fetus.
Clobetasol propionate ( TemovateŽ) 0.05% Cream
or ointment
Topical Anti-inflammatory Corticosteroid
- Indicated for the relief of the inflammatory and pruritic manifestations of corticosteroid-responsive dermatoses.
Apply a thin film of 0.05% cream or ointment to the affected skin areas twice daily. Rub in gently.
Treatment beyond 2 consecutive weeks is
not recommended, and the total dosage should not exceed 50 g/week because of the
potential for the drug to suppress the hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal (HPA)
axis.
Temovate Cream and Ointment should not be used with occlusive dressings, in the treatment of rosacea or perioral
dermatitis, or on the face, groin, or axillae.
( 30, 45, 60 g tubes)
Clobetasol propionate was teratogenic in mice and rabbits when applied
topically. Abnormalities seen included cleft
palate, cranioschisis, and other skeletal abnormalities. There are no adequate and well-controlled studies of the teratogenic potential
of clobetasol propionate in pregnant women. TEMOVATE Cream and Ointment should
be used during pregnancy only if the potential benefit justifies the potential
risk to the fetus. It is not known whether topical administration of
corticosteroids could result in sufficient systemic absorption to produce
detectable quantities in human milk.
