How counting works (quick)
  • Starch: ~15 g carbohydrate per exchange. “Prepared with fat” items add +1 fat exchange per serving.
  • Fruit: ~15 g carbohydrate per exchange.
  • Vegetable: ~5 g carbohydrate per exchange.
  • Milk: ~12 g carbohydrate + ~8 g protein per exchange (fat/kcal vary by type).
  • Fat: ~5 g fat per exchange.
